WordPress Developer – Cape Town Office

Job description

We’re looking to hire a dynamic, ambitious and results-orientated WordPress Developer on a full-time basis who will be based in our Cape Town office in the prestigious Steenberg Office Park, Tokai. This is a great opportunity to further grow and get access to cutting-edge technology as we continue building new sites on our Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop and maintain WordPress websites on Google Cloud Platform
• Build and customise WooCommerce e-commerce solutions
• Manage Contact Form 7 submissions and integrations
• Create custom themes, plugins and complex functionality
• Ensure websites operate efficiently and meet business requirements
• Support our Digital Command Centre operations with web-based solutions
• Assist with API integrations and CRM connections
• Maintain website security and performance optimisation

Requirements

Qualifications

• Intermediate level experience (we do not want junior candidates)
• Advanced WordPress development skills
• WooCommerce expertise – essential
• Experience with Contact Form 7
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
• Version control experience (Git)
• Must live within 10km of Steenberg Office Park, Tokai

Highly Advantageous:

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience – huge advantage as new sites are built on GCP
• Experience with Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud CDN
• API Integration experience
• WordPress performance optimisation skills
• Understanding of security best practices

Experience

• Prior experience in IT support or a similar role is beneficial but not required
• Hands-on experience with Windows and/or macOS environments preferred

Working Conditions

• In-office role with occasional need to visit other locations within the company
• May involve lifting of moderately heavy items, such as computers and printers
