The Role
We are currently seeking a highly enthusiastic and motivated Senior WordPress Developer to spearhead our web development endeavours. With a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in creating and managing WordPress sites, you will take charge of not only our online presence but also that of our esteemed clients. From our Digital Command Centre nestled in the picturesque Steenberg Office Park, Tokai, Cape Town, South Africa, you will curate an immersive and seamlessly responsive user experience.
This role is a full-time in-office position. Unfortunately, remote work or a hybrid arrangement combining remote and in-office options is not available.
Responsibilities
As a Senior WordPress Developer, you will:
- Lead the development and maintenance of our WordPress websites, ensuring high performance and manageability.
- Implement SEO best practices to optimise our sites for search engines and user engagement.
- Conduct website performance tests and provide improvement solutions.
- Collaborate with our in-house team and external agencies to align website design and functionality with the digita strategy.
- Maintain a robust, secure web environment by implementing security measures and regular updates.
- Provide technical leadership in CMS strategy and share WordPress expertise across the team.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with WordPress website development.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery).
- Expertise in PHP and familiarity with MySQL and other databases.
- Strong understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
- Experience with responsive and adaptive design principles.
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals.
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working WordPress pages.
- A proven track record of managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
